Event: Illinois Muslim ACTION! Day in Springfield, Illinois
When: Tuesday, April 17, 2012
Time: 7:00am to 4:00pm (Busses leave mosques at 7:00 am sharp!)
Issues:

  1. Education
  2. Access to Healthcare
  3. Arabic in schools

Who: Everyone is welcome to join in this important advocacy work! We especially encourage 8th graders, high school students and college students to come out and experience citizen advocacy first hand!

Registration/Travel: Busses will be arranged for all pre-registered participants.

AIC is hosting its first Intercultural Show in April to celebrate the diversity.  It is a dynamic intercultural program, which intends to commemorate the vibrant diversity of Chicago’s ethnic and cultural communities.  This celebration will enrich our understanding of Chicago’s multicultural heritage in hopes of painting a deeper appreciation for America’s colorful cultural landscape. The Executive Director serves as the public spokesperson for the Council, and as such, must have an impeccable background and a commanding presence. The candidate must be a dynamic and personable organizer with a strong familiarity with the American Muslim Community. The position calls for effective fund-raising skills and excellent communication abilities, both at the podium and in the written word. The importance of this position is significant and the Executive Director needs to be comfortable working with the diversity and size of this community. Communications Manager:

CIOGC seeks a Communications Manager to oversee all aspects of this growing organization’s internal and external communications. This staff member would be based in our downtown Chicago, IL office and will coordinate communications activities across the organization and raise the visibility of its work within the community, the media, funders and the public. The Communications Manager will implement an integrated communications plan that includes leveraging the CIOGC website, social media, traditional media, and targeted outreach. Read more

Islamic Relief USA is seeking a Development Coordinator who is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding major and minor gifts, initiating, maintaining and growing donor relationships to maximize their long-term value and benefit to the organization.   The Development Coordinator strives to match the philanthropic interests of current and prospective donors with the mission and goals of the organization.  The majority of time is spent constantly prospecting the community for potential donors to maximize the donor base and to build support for Islamic Relief USA projects.

Summer internships

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is offering two summer internships and a $1000 scholarship from State Farm Insurance for college students and graduating high school seniors, in conjunction with our observance of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

This internship is part of the office’s efforts to actively attract and recruit individuals with the hope that they will one day join the office as assistant state’s attorneys.  We believe this opportunity will provide invaluable experience to the selected students, especially if the students are considering a career in the public sector or the legal profession.

Enclosed are detailed information and application forms to complete and submit by Monday, April 02, 2012.  A winner will be selected and notified by April 13, 2012 and recognized at the State’s Attorney’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month reception in May 2012.
